The Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design is one of the nation’s first low-residency programs in graphic design that is built around a student’s individual interests and goals.

No set pedagogy encompasses the range of topics explored and fostered at VCFA within the field of design. Freedom from the constraints of any particular style or approach is encouraged, and students are asked to forge their own courses of study, based on their individual design concerns and interests.

Students come from diverse creative backgrounds and can earn a master’s degree without leaving their communities. By pairing intense weeklong residencies with year-round faculty mentorship, the MFA in Graphic Design allows students to pursue a course of study that is tailored to a student’s existing design practice.
