ON GLOWING – A PARTICIPATORY LIGHT INSTALLATION

Brian Bednarski was born in New Jersey and currently lives in Massachusetts. In addition to being a Graphic Design MFA candidate at Vermont College of Fine Arts, Brian works as a mobile product designer for Major League Baseball.

Brian considers himself a maker as much as a designer. Since childhood he has been making, making anything, ranging from Lego boats and walk-through haunted houses in his basement to shoelace pulley systems rigged to open and close bedroom doors and illuminated ping pong paddles.

As an MFA student Brian has been focusing on communicating through participatory design. His messages started off as simple phrases of affection communicated through creative signage including a sand printing tricycle. They have become more focused and meaningful, covering topics like not taking life for granted, conveyed by Awake Soap, the importance of grounded decision making, and the awareness and appreciation of on going relationships, represented by On Glowing.
